FIRE SAFE 701 Fabric

FIRE SAFE 701 Fabric
is a high quality, ready-to-use, water-soluble fire retardant treatment
for natural and synthetic fabrics. FIRE SAFE 701 Fabric
forms a continuous glass-like layer over each treated fiber when
applied. It intumesces in the presence of heat to create a charred
insulating layer consisting of noncombustible carbon with nitrogen
and carbon dioxide within its structure thus preventing oxygen from
reaching the fuel source.
APPLICATION (Read detailed
application instructions prior to use)
The fabric to be treated must be free of oil, grease, dust and dirt.
Always test for compatibility and colorfastness prior to full-scale
application of the product.
FIRE SAFE 701 Fabric is applied
by dipping or spraying the fabric. The application rate will depend
upon the type and weight of fabric treated. The desired add-on (amount
of fire retardant left on the fabric after application and drying)
is generally as follows:
Wool 8-12%
Cotton 10-15%
Rayon 12-17%
Poly Cotton 15-20%
Acrylics 15-20%
Dipping Process: After fabric
has been dipped in FIRE SAFE 701 Fabric squeeze
out any excess solution and allow the material to dry completely
before it is folded or rolled.
Spraying Process: Fabric should
be sprayed on both sides to the point of saturation and then allowed
to dry completely before being rolled or folded. Wearing water-resistant
gloves and goggles for handling.
FIRE SAFE 701 Fabric Features:
¨ Withstands five dry cleaning cycles (Note: Fabrics treated
with FIRE SAFE 701 Fabric will lose their fire
retardant qualities after washing or laundering in water.)
¨ Clear, colorless liquid
¨ Odorless
¨ Most fabrics will retain original hand and feel after treatment
¨ Complies with the standard for flame tests of flame-resistant
fabrics and films, ULC S109-M1980- and CAN2-4.2-M77, Method 27.1
